| 20 years ago, zoologist Mark Carwardine teamed up with the late Douglas Adams and together they embarked on a groundbreaking expedition, travelling the globe in search of some of the world’s most endangered ...more | Next Episode: Last week it was the mysterious, nocturnal Aye-Aye, and tonight Stephen Fry and Mark Carwardine travel to the Malay Archipeligo on their way to the Indonesian island of Komodo where they hope to see Komodo Dragons. They begin with a trip to Snake Island where they encounter one of the world’s deadliest snakes. Their onward journey sees Stephen and Mark taking a mud bath alongside mudskippers; see a project to save Proboscis Monkeys whose habitat is threatened by the palm oil industry, and they encounter the mysteriously scaly Pangolin. The travellers also dive a coral reef to see sea-horses in the ocean and visit a market where sea-horses and other endangered species are sold as Chinese Medicine. Finally, Stephen and Mark board a sailing ship to Komodo for their encounter with the deadly Komodo Dragons. Despite meeting a ranger who was bitten by the dragons they join a project to capture and tag the animals. Did Stephen learn nothing when he broke his arm a few weeks ago? |
