About the show
A man (man A) presents at Palmerston North Police Station claiming to have shot another man in self-defence. The victim, man B, is found three houses away from the shooting scene, he appears to have staggered several steps while bleeding profusely, dropped the gun, staggered a few more steps, collided with a fence then dropped dead to the ground. The blood trail leads all the way back to man A’s house.
There are cast-off bloodstains and bloodletting on the ceiling, on the wall opposite the front door, and more is found on the lounge chair and table. Man A claims that man B came to his house with a loaded gun, with the intention to kill him. Then a struggle ensued, in which man A claims to have wrestled the gun off man B, in the process shooting man B in self-defence. It sounds possible, but plausible? What really happened that spring afternoon in the sleepy streets of Palmerston North? Operation Blue gets underway to answer – is it homicide, accidental, or self-defence?
