About The Show

Living With Tourette’s is an exciting, inspiring documentary series, featuring six New Zealanders with Tourette Syndrome as they try to make their way in a world that would rather see them hidden away. Renee and Lashkar have such severe Tourette’s that they have chosen to have Deep Brain Stimulation surgery, one of the only medical treatments known to reduce the tics. We will see how surgery 18 months ago has transformed Renee’s life, and we will follow Lashkar through the same frightening yet exciting journey, as he travels to Australia for the operation that could see him able to get a job and make friends for the first time in his life. This season also follows 18-year-old Sian who wants to become a freelance graphic artist, yet takes two hours to get out of bed and eat breakfast; 19-year-old Ryleigh, who can’t walk down the street without insulting everyone she sees, yet has become a YouTube star with millions of followers, and 33-year-old Adam, who has few friends, no social life, and has never had a girlfriend, but is finally doing something to overcome his crippling social anxiety. We also meet 27-year-old Leighton, who has the unlikely job of wedding videographer, and by series end, we will see him transform into a Tik Tok star with a global following.
